Webinar: Finite mixture models using Stata
Populations are often divided into groups such as income brackets, levels of education, or country of origin. Regression models likely differ across these groups. But sometimes we do not have a variable that identifies the groups. Perhaps the identifying variable is missing, hard to collect, or unobservable. In such cases, we can use finite mixture models (FMMs) to estimate distinct parameters of a regression model in each unobserved (latent) group, to classify individuals into the groups, and to draw inferences about how each group behaves.
Join Rafal Raciborski, Senior Statistical Developer, as he describes the types of models that can be fit using Stata's new fmm command. You will learn how to interpret results, predict latent class membership, and fit even more complex FMMs using Stata's gsem command.
